At Honingcraft, precision is our promise. But behind the polished steel and finely honed tubes is something even more powerful: people. And among our hardworking team are three individuals who carry a gift that can’t be machined or measured: spiritual power.

In this article, we take a moment to shine a light on the unique spiritual journeys of Sergio Chilengue, Mandla Seyama, and Ayanda Muchanga, not just as colleagues but as respected traditional healers. Their stories remind us that strength in the workplace doesn’t only come from tools—it also comes from heart, culture, and a deep connection to something greater.

Spiritual Power in Daily Life

Sergio Chilengue - A Bridge Between Worlds

Sergio has been part of the Honingcraft team for several years, where he’s known for his calm presence and solid work ethic. But beyond his day job, he’s also a traditional healer, practising in his community for the past six years.

“My ancestors are from Mozambique, and I speak Xitsonga,” he says. “My spiritual gift came to me through dreams. I’d find myself in water or waking up far from home, guided by visions I couldn’t explain. Eventually, my ancestors showed me my mentor in a dream.”

Today, Sergio uses a variety of traditional medicines, each with its own purpose. “Every remedy has meaning,” he says. “This work connects me to my roots. It’s not just about healing others—it’s about honouring the wisdom passed down through generations.”

For Sergio, this mindfulness flows into his daily work at Honingcraft, grounding him and giving him purpose.

Mandla Seyama - Healing Through Nature

Originally from the Nqutu region in KwaZulu-Natal, Mandla has been a spiritual healer for five years. At work, he’s known for his focus and precision. Off the clock, he’s deeply connected to the natural world around him.

“I speak isiZulu, and although I have family members who practice, my calling came to me through dreams. I’d see relatives who had passed on. Eventually, they led me to my mentor.”

Mandla’s medicine comes straight from the earth. “Some herbs I find nearby; others I collect in the mountains, guided by my ancestors,” he explains.

What does he love most? “I don’t always need money to heal someone. The Earth gives us what we need. It’s a powerful thing.”

This spiritual approach has shaped how Mandla views the world and his work. He approaches every task with care, patience, and a respect for balance.

Ayanda Muchanga - A Calling Through Water

Ayanda, whose ancestors also hail from Mozambique, has been practising traditional healing for four years. He speaks Isindau and carries himself with a gentle strength that’s felt in everything he does.

“My ancestors wanted to be initiated through water,” he explains. “So, most of my healing involves mixing herbs with water. I often dream about the future or receive visions while I sleep. That’s how I was led to my mentor.”

Ayanda didn’t grow up in a family of healers. His path was one chosen by his ancestors, who guided him toward his calling. “I was taught that traditional healing is not dark magic or something to fear,” he says. “It’s about using what the earth has given us to care for each other, especially for those who can’t afford Western medicine.”

At Honingcraft, his peaceful nature and intuitive way of working have made him a valued member of the team.

The Heart of Honingcraft

What unites Sergio, Mandla, and Ayanda isn’t just their calling; it’s how they bring that spiritual power into every part of their lives, including their work. Whether it’s being attentive to a customer’s request, supporting a colleague, or staying calm under pressure, their spiritual journeys shape how they move through the world.

This quiet strength contributes to a workplace culture that honours mindfulness, diversity, and mutual respect. At Honingcraft, we’re proud to celebrate the full lives of our employees, not just their skills on the shop floor, but their stories, traditions, and wisdom.
