At Honingcraft, we believe in the power of perseverance and the immense value of hands-on experience. Today, we’re incredibly proud to celebrate the recent achievement of our employee, Mpho Lehoko, who has officially obtained his National Diploma in Human Resource Management. His journey is a testament to his hard work, resilience, and the supportive culture that defines our team.
Mpho’s path to his diploma was a unique one, filled with valuable lessons. His three-year course was split into a theory phase and an 18-month practical internship. After completing his theory in July 2019, he faced a waiting period before finding the perfect fit.
“My long wait for a company to host me for my 18-month internship started,” Mpho recalls.
That wait ended on May 3, 2022, when he joined the Honingcraft family. The initial phase of his internship was a dynamic and challenging one, as he was placed in various workshop departments to learn the company’s culture from the ground up. This was a surprise to him, but it ultimately proved to be a pivotal part of his development.
“Thanks to Mr Gerhard’s tough love and belief in training and development, I persevered,” Mpho says. “Through perseverance, I not only gained knowledge in HR but in other operations in the company, e.g., running a store and managing consumables.”
His journey was not without its bumps. A funding issue late in his internship nearly delayed his completion, but a new sponsor was found, and his internship was extended for another year. This allowed him to finish his practical work in November 2024. He applied for his diploma soon after, and his efforts were officially rewarded when it was approved on August 12th of this year.
Reflecting on his experience, Mpho credits the challenges he faced with shaping his mindset. “The tough love I received reminded me that I am now in the real world,” he explains. “If you do not grab your opportunities, no matter how rough the start is, you’ll barely survive any industry, and that became my motivation to work hard towards completing my qualification.”
Mpho’s dedication and hard work paid off in more ways than one. He was rewarded with a permanent contract at Honingcraft on November 1, 2024.
Mpho’s story is an inspiration to us all. It reminds us that with dedication, a positive attitude, and the right support, any challenge can be overcome. We are incredibly proud to have him as a valuable member of the Honingcraft team.
